Review: E. Favilli and F. Cavallo: Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls - 100 Tales of Extraordinary Women

It's been a while since I've read a book written for children. I do like fairy tales, but not so much to read one of them at this age (I guess to each their own ??).
That's exactly why I picked up this book, because it's a book for every generation, packed with 100 stories - and not a single fairy tale.
This one is real and it's called
Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls
- 100 Tales of Extraordinary Women -

I'm young and I'm a Gemini, and we're known to sometimes go against our own decisions, so yeah, I'd say I'm a rebel.
And trust me, wherever you are, and whatever you're doing - if you ever had to step out and take charge - you are one too.
.
"I was build this way for a reason, so I'm going to use it." - Simone Biles

"If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it." - Grace Hooper

If you're a mother or a grandmother of a little girl, have a baby sister or are a person with a special little princess in their life, and are thinking about how to make their childhood worth remembering, it's this book. This book is the way to make every child grow into an amazing, understanding human being who knows how to respect the world, its people, and themselves.
By reading these stories, we teach about equal rights, equal opportunities and a bright future - no matter where do we come from, no matter who we are today.

"I will not be triumphed over." - Cleopatra

"When the whole world is silent, even one world becomes powerful." - Malala Yousafzai

In this book, there are a hundred stories about a hundred unbelievable women that have changed the world. It can easily be called a manual because it is full of stories that are also lessons. It lets children hear a short tale about different women from different cultures. Women that spoke different languages and did different things. Every one of them was special in their diversity and all of them were perfect in their imperfection.

"Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help. Only if we care, shall all be saved." - Jane Goodall

"I am one of the people who love the why of things." - Catherine the Great

The stories are written using simple language children can understand and packed with only the most important information about every individual.
Beside those short biographies, there's an illustration of every exceptional lady, a hundred of them, made by 60 female artists from all over the world.
There are also 2 pages left empty just for you and your young rebel. It's a place for her story and her picture - the first chapter in what is going to be the story that changes the world once more.

The beauty of this book lies in its message: everything is possible. No obstacle is high enough, no society is strong enough and no poverty or sickness can stop us. It's not what comes from the outside that could make us invisible. Not if on the inside we believe we're meant to shine.

"Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood." - Marie Curie

It's a bit more than a month until Christmas, good people. It's the perfect time to get your hands on this book, te read it and wrap it up prettily. And then to wait for the day for a special rebel girl to peak between its pages.
And shine.

"Adventure is worthwhile in itself." - Amelia Earhart
