Me hear the name Cynster - me buy the book ??
I think that all of you that have read the first three novels (Devil's Bride, A Rake's Vow, Scandal's Bride) in Cynster series, would, with no doubt do the same.
So today we're talking about the novel number four,
A Rogue's Proposal.

The mere mention of his name is a warning for all of Damon's enemies and those who wish to become ones, not to mess with this Cynster.
And yet some feel brave enough to try.
Like Flick, the young man with the surprisingly nice backside. But Damon is good at knowing women's backsides when he sees them, even if they are covered in male clothes.

So when he realizes the one in those clothes, wandering around his lands, is beautiful Felicity Parteger, he feels the need to do everything he can to help. Since Flick is trying to help the son of her protector, and she is a woman on a mission, it's Damon's duty to protect her.

Same way it is his duty to offer her marriage after the two of them spend the night in each other's arms. He thought he would never get married. He doesn't even want to. But he will.

If only she'd be smart enough not to say no.

I think I'd be right if I said we always have high expectations while reading some of S.Laurens' books. And she usually gives us exactly what we've wanted. Same happened with this one, too. Laurens gave us two stubborn and oh so lovely characters that have helped her win 2008. RITA award for the best romance novel of the year.

Here we meet Damon Cynster, the man we've already had the pleasure to read about the first three book in this series. His name makes us think he's not one of those nice ones, but we're talking about Cynsters here, none of them really are. And then there's a girl. One brave enough to put on male clothes to go and save - I bet you could guess - a man!

By trying to save their friend, Demon and Felicity enter a dangerous game of fraud, deception, intrigues, and fixing of horse races. Felicity, an independent woman ready to do what it takes to save her friend, and Demon, a man so wrapped up in her beauty, soon realize their biggest problem is an undeniable passion between them.

After the night they spend together, to save her name, Demon offers her marriage, but Flick is not one of those women scared to face the world and the consequences of her actions. She has standards and Demon doesn't meet them. So she refuses his proposal.
It's up to Demon to decide. She wants love and nothing less. Is he ready to give it to her?

So what do you say, guys, ready for Demon Cynster? To me, this novel has been the favorite one in Cynster series because Demon was the first male character (if I remember correctly) to say the words I love you. How sweet is he!

Now I'm ready for the last two novels. Lucifer and Gabriel, watch out, here I come.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned why I sometimes review novels published a decade or more ago. Well, firstly, it's because I don't want to limit myself to read only the recently published novels (just because something's new doesn't mean it's better). But the other reason is that the books I'm normally writing are, at that time, newly published in Croatia. So it's the first time for Croatian readers to hear about the book or have the opportunity to read it.
That goes for Miss Wonderful too. It was originally published in 2004. as the first part of Carsington Brothers book series (followed by Mr.Impossible, Lord Perfect, Not quite a Lady  and Last Night's Scandal)

Alastair Carsington falls in love easily, and the main problem is that normally he's the only one that feels it. He's ready to prove his feelings in every way the lady wants him to and that gets him in trouble every single time.
That's why he finds himself in Derbyshire, in the middle of nowhere.
He went there (and not willingly) to take care of a business, but then he met miss Mirabel, his own miss Wonderful. Alastair fell in love immediately but soon realized that love was meant to fail.
It happened that Mirabel was trying hard to get rid of him and his plans, and if she succeeded, his brothers are the ones that would be suffering the consequences.
In the middle of all of that, who has time to think about love?

This is the first novel ever that showed me another kind of male character: one that cares deeply about fashion and almost feels physical pain when he sees somebody going against established rules in clothing. It's, of course, a coping mechanism that allows him to deal with his other imperfections, but still...it's refreshing. The son of the third Earl of Hargate is quite interesting, actually. Unlike other male characters in this kind of novels, Alastair has no problems admitting he falls in love, and he does it regularly. When did you last read about that kind of a man? This will, for sure, make you remember him.

Miss Wonderful is nothing but a lady faced with a younger man, experienced in some things, and a total amateur in another. He's protected by his title and she's inspired by her lifelong experience. While he was enjoying himself in the past, she was working hard.
But both of them lived through their fair share of troubles, and the only thing they can do is try to do right by those they love.

I do have a few question, tho. Why is Mirabel miss wonderful if Alaistar was the one to change so completely? Is it possible that's exactly the reason why? She made him want to become the best version of himself?
Go, girl!

But, then, why didn't I feel the spark between them? I didn't even notice their romance develop and the first moment of their intimacy felt so odd, like it came out of nowhere. I think this book lacks a sense of humor and any kind of excitement. I hope for a little less conversation and a little more action next time.

What do you say?

This week is the most important week in the life of every true bookworm in my country. We're visiting Interliber, the biggest international book fair in Croatia, and I'm having the time of my life working for one of the Croatian publishers, Naklada Neptun.
The book I'm writing about today is one of the three novels they've published yesterday,
Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare.

What would you do if you'd wake up and realize you were abducted by your own cunning mother and brought to the place full of young ladies - to find one of them and eventually marry her?
If you were Griffin York, the Duke of Halford, you would play by her rules and make her hate the game, by choosing the most inappropriate of the ladies - a servant.
Griffin offers Pauline a small fortune for a week in his employment and the only thing she has to do is fail in everything his mother teaches her.
The only thing he has to do is not to fall for her.
Right...

Are you looking for a historical romance novel with a deep story that would make you both swoon and laugh out loud? Well, you've found it.
Tessa Dare does it like no other. She creates characters nobody can resist. Once again, were visiting Spindle Cove, this time to meet Pauline, a girl sweet as a candy, always restless, incredibly brave and loyal.
Pauline is special in her endeavor to succeed in life, even though, considering the time she lives in, there is no chance she could do it on her own.

And that's what he likes about her. Griffin didn't even dream about ever meeting a girl like Pauline. As any other arrogant duke would do, he walked into the situation his mother put him into, head held high, too stubborn to be careful. So he was in for a surprise, for a lesson about life and love he would never forget. And it would be delivered by a servant that is everything but ordinary.

Griffin and Pauline will very easily become your two favorite characters by Tessa Dare. The language, the writing style, dialogues and descriptions, all of it screams read me, love me! I'm so happy Croatian readers will be able to enjoy this novel, and I certainly hope you'll give it a chance too.

There is one more novel in this book series, Do You Want To Start a Scandal, one I hope to soon see on our bookshelves, but until then, let's enjoy the one we have in front of us.

When you find something you like, you come back to it, right?
It has been three years since I've read a book by Eloisa James, so I figured it was time for me to indulge in some good historical romance.
Today I'm writing about Desperate Duchesses, the first of nine novels in Desperate Duchesses book series.

Lady Roberta St.Giles falls in love with a duke she never even met. She saw him across the ballroom and knew he was the right man for her. He's intelligent, experienced and calculating. He also has no intentions to ever get married.
But then something (or someone) happens that makes him realize marriage is exactly the thing he needs. And lady Roberta is exactly the woman that would perfectly suit the role of his duchess.
But the earl of Gryffyn can't really agree. He knows Roberta wouldn't benefit from that marriage and she would never be happy with the duke.
He is, nevertheless, sure that she would be happy with him.
The duke or the earl? Which one will it be?

If you've ever doubted women could multitask, this novel will show you that you have nothing to fear. It takes one woman to make one decision to start a massive chain reaction that would impact the lives of various characters. Did she do it because she was somehow desperate? Or precisely because she wasn't?
Being a part of London high society means one could be many things, but all those people have on thing in common: more than anything, each and every one of them hides his true intentions.

I liked Desperate Duchesses because it showed how different people really are. It shows that our (and those of the character's) intentions are always selfish in a certain matter. Sometimes falseness and mystery are the weapons used by those who want to achieve their goals - but the goals could change at any time - so one should be ready to cunningly adapt to the new situation.

James succeeded to tell us two stories in one single novel and did it so well that we spend the entire novel wondering about what will happen next. Who will end up with whom...

Her characters are people with interesting personalities and that makes her story one of those we all love to come back to. But we are talking about Eloisa James after all. Have somebody ever doubted it could end badly?

Did you read Desperate Duchesses? Did you like it?

Finally, here's Winter's story! He's the character that has intrigued me from the first moment I read about him, so I was reading this novel expecting much and getting even more! Today I'm writing about the Thief of Shadows, the novel number 4 in Maiden Lane series by Elizabeth Hoyt.

It's not easy to be the headmaster of the home for foundling children. It's even more difficult to be the headmaster of a home for foundling children by day and the notorious Ghost of St. Giles by night.
It's very hard. And very lonely.
Lond time ago, Winter Makepeace took a vow of celibacy, one that would assure for him to have no distractions while doing what he has to do, saving those who can't save themselves.
But then came lady Isabel Beckinhall, a widow not shy, nor humble. Her boldness and beauty made him think about more than just revenge and justice. The brave Ghost would soon realize that while fighting to save the innocent, he has lost something, something he gave up freely - his heart to a woman who can save him from his own demons.

I could hardly wait to finally read about the Ghost of St. Giles! I know that the blurb tells us about his identity, but did you guess who the Ghost was before reading it? There actually is another secret regarding the famous person under disguise, but we get to find out that secret at the end of this novel so I'm not planning to tell you what it is.

I love it when the stories I read about hide a secret, one that is dangerous for more than just the two protagonists in question, and Hoyt is here to deliver. I have to admit that (once again), this novel is the best so far and will hope to see more characters as brave and bold as Isabel Beckinhall. The lady seriously rocks!

So, let's repeat to remember. This story (and those before it) is set in 1730s London. It shows us the difference between the poor who survive by begging or stealing and the rich who live unconscious of the way the real world works. By reading, we get to wander the streets of St.Giles, those full of criminals, ghosts and other dangerous vigilantes that are yet to be discovered.
If you want to know more, check out the Makepeace family tree here.

After reading the last few pages of this novel, the only thing I have to say is: damn, I need to read the rest. This will be an interesting fall!

The reviews of other novels by Elizabeth Hoyt:

Have fun with this one,

It's been a while since I've read the first novel in Brothers Sinister book series and I can't actually believe it took me so much time because the first novel was so beautiful. I'm happy to be writing about the second book, The Heiress Effect, another masterpiece by Courtney Milan.
Welcome!

Jane Fairfield has only one goal in her life and nobody is going to stand in her way. The high society of London can think of her as of a stupid heiress. They can make fun of her. They can believe the worse about her - that's exactly what she wants them to do. They couldn't make her job any easier.

Oliver Marshall has a job to do. Actually, it's not something he has to do, he was rather blackmailed to do it. Oliver was dealing with injustice his whole life and now he has to deliberately hurt another person and that goes against everything he believes in.

How will the excentrical duo fight against the injustice and people who only care about their own personal benefits? Will they get to know yet another enemy in one another or will their union result in more than one kind of victory?

Meet Jane. Jane knows nothing about fashion. No, that's not true, she knows enough to realize her gowns look hideous, but she actually likes them looking awful. Jane is a character whose background explains perfectly her life choices.

Oliver Cromwell is...no, wait. Oliver Marshall is a man who knows how cruel the world really could be. As a bastard son of a duke, he has high ambitions and low chances to ever succeed. He is now faced with a moral doubt that could change his life forever whatever the decision he makes may be.

This is a story of two people faced with everything wrong in this world. Is there any way they could find an out of a risky situation and still make us smile while doing it?

Just like the last novel by Courtney Milan, this one too - besides giving us a nice and warm love story between two very different, but very similar people - takes us on the journey into the 19th century London. Once more we meet two protagonists of high moral values, who think outside the box and fight for an unimaginable cause- the voting right.

Courtney combines a story rich in historical detail and believable romance. Her plot is deep and her scenes are without flaws. There's humor, there's friendship and just enough eroticism to make us continue to read all of it at once.

If this is your first time reading about some novel by Courtney Milan, I recommend starting with the first book in Brother Sinister book series. You're in for a treat.

Reviews of other novels by this author: The Duchess War

This is the third novel by Laura Kinsale I've read so far, and the one I liked the most
For my Lady's Heart is the first novel in Medieval Heart duology, followed by the novel Shadowheart.
If you ever feel the need to wonder in your mind through the history of man kind, stop somewhere in the Medieval Period to know the real meaning of terms law and fear of God. If you'd like a book to take you to this journey, this is the one you will want to buy.

?

After saving his life, the young princess has become a lady of one knight's heart.
Abandoned, penniless and broken, the only thing left to him were two emeralds his lady has sent to him.
More than a decade later, the green knight returns to keep his word and serve his lady.  Now he must save her and this is how they journey begins.
Their travel makes them realize some old truths, do their penance and discover the love they have for each other.
The two of them set on their way, to flee the plague, famine, intrigues and dangerous enemies.

The protagonists of this novel are as realistic as they can get. The situation they live in is something modern people will never get to experience, but we get to feel their emotion and that is the best thing one can find in a book.

Fear of God, the great respect for another human being and humbleness are the base of every move Ruck and Melanthe make, even those we may see as cruel.

Ruck is a man of his word. A medieval version of a man every modern woman would surely want to find for herself. He's reliable, loyal and persistent, he doesn't hide his flaws but he never loses his focus.
Melanthe is a woman who always has to hide behind a man, and she hates it. As a woman, she can't show how smart and cunning she really is. Not even her social position can guarantee she would be safe from suitors chasing her title. She lives in constant fear of being killed or made to marry a man she would never love or like.

Laura Kinsale takes us to the times where nobody would hope for two people as different as Ruck and Melanthe to ever end up together. The time when people lived by the laws of men and laws of God and put their life last in fear of being forever banned from heaven.
This novel allows us to experience love, devotion, and determination from an entirely different but oh so beautiful perspective.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

The third and the last installment in Royal Brotherhood series by Sabrina Jeffries presents us with the story that will conclude the trilogy. One Night with a Prince is a story of the oldest of the Prince Regent's bastard sons, Gavin Byrnea and a women who will capture his heart, Christabel Haversham.

Christabel's ready to do what it takes to get her hands on the letters now in possession of a man ready to use them to harm the Kingdom. And what it takes is to pretend to be the mistress of notorious Gavin Byrne.
But Byrne didn't get the title of a skilled lover by just smiling at ladies' direction. He knows how to play his aces and recognizes Christabel is the most important card he could play to finally get his chance for revenge he's been planning for a long time.
But, as always, one has to give up some diamonds if they want a hand full of hearts. Will Gavin and Christabel go for the win or will they recognize that sometimes to give up is just the right thing to do?

You know those novels where the characters need to make some kind of sacrifice so they could get something else in return? But that makes them suffer. So they suffer, we suffer, there's collective suffering going on... And it's everything but interesting...
Well, nobody suffers in this book ??
Jeffries knows how to write her novels so we're constantly reminded that there's that serious problem, people have to let go of something and it's painful, there would be consequences- but she does it without making us roll our eyes in false sympathy. Actually, she makes us live through all of that and still smile.

This one is one of those novels that I had to take seriously, and I did it gladly. The characters show an interesting level of maturity from the first time we read about them, and they stay consistent to that part of their personality. They aren't making any kind of rash decisions that would be hard to believe, but they keep reminding us they're still human beings who make few mistakes now and then.

There's that thing I liked the most, and it's the way Gavin and Christabel met. Their meeting set bases for they relationship dynamic and gave us an insight into their personalities.
This book has a plot that invites us to read further and you'll like it even more if you're of those who like good humor.
I'm gonna stop talking now, and just tell you to go get the book. You won't be sorry.

My recommendation is to start this trilogy by reading the novel number one In the Prince's Bed first, then continue with To Pleasure the Prince. Of course, you can read One Night with a Prince as a standalone, but why not enjoy the first two books too?

Have fun with this one and let me know what you think,
Rose ??

Do neke druge zgode, aljem vam puse,
Rose ??

Recenzija na hrvatskom nalazi se ispod recenzije na engleskom ?

Whoever got to know Cynster family by now, knows once they start reading the book, they can't  stop after just the first one. Or the second. So here we are, reading the novel number 3 in Cynster series, Scandal's Bride.

Catriona Hennessy is a lady of a walley she lives in. She has been living alone for a great number of years and doing just fine.
But now, after the death of her uncle, to save her family from ruin, she has to marry Richard Cynster, a man also known as Scandal.
Catriona lives by the law of her Lady, a mystical being that gives her premonitions of the future father of her children, that is Richard, but after meeting him, she realizes he's not a right man for her.
She think she needs a man ready to live by her laws, one that will not ask questions but obey her in everything.
A man nothing like Richard Cynster.
But is her way the right way? Or will her blind determination bring her nothing but trouble?

Cynsters are a family that lives to acquire and to keep. But what they like to worship most are people. They seek love as the only thing that can guarantee their family to survive. Love means family, and family means wealth. Every one of Cynster's men live to keep that family growing. Richard does it by being a man ready to live in a shadow of his lady, ready to help, but out of the spotlight.

Catriona is a woman described the way men are used to be described in this kind of novels. She keeps for herself, and has ever only trusted herself. That makes us ready to see her as a cold and arrogant person, but gives us an ppportunity to observe how her behavior changes. She realizes she doesn't always have to be right to make things right.

Her 'Lady' makes the whole novel a bit more mystical and fantastic, the thing that made me like it even more.

But there is that one thing I have to comment, the thing that made me a bit nervous, so I'll do it (not to spoil) by only saying this: having sex with an unconscious person makes it a rape.
I don't know how they succeeded to miss this 'detail' before publishing but it made a lot of Laurens' fans angry, and some even refused to read the book after seeing the scene was not somehow justified later on.

Anyway, I'm sure that the loyal fans of this author will find this novel as amazing as the first two in this series, and will want to read the next installment ASAP. There are 20 more novels to go, people. Time to start reading.

Rose ?

U originalu postoje nevjerojatna 23 nastavaka u ovom serijalu to me vrlo veseli, jer ih je jo dvadesetak pred nama!
Sljedea pria je Demonova. Ja sam nestrpljiva, a vi?

Rose ?
